TWINS UPDATE

The Twins have homered in nine consecutive games, hitting 22 in that span. They are seventh in the American League with 651 runs scored. Not that impressive, but the offense is the best thing going with this club. … Since being called up by the Twins on Sept. 1, CF Byron Buxton is batting .462 with four home runs, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored in seven games. … Here's the obligatory Brian Dozier surge note: The second baseman has a 16-game hitting streak at Target Field, a run that includes 13 home runs. … Berrios has made 10 major league starts, two against the Indians. But Cleveland is the only team Berrios has not given up a home run against.

INDIANS UPDATE

RHP Josh Tomlin started the season 9-1 but has been demoted to the bullpen after a 10-stretch start where he went 2-7 with a 7.96 ERA. Clevinger is stepping in for now, but Tomlin will be available if Clevinger falters early Saturday. … Clevinger, who lasted only 1⅔ innings in his start Monday vs. Houston, has been told to treat the game as if it is a relief outing. He is going to warm up with the relievers and pretend he's entering the middle of a game. … SS Francisco Lindor leads the majors with 23 three-hit games, the most by an Indians player since Earl Averill (29) and Hal Trosky (24) in 1936. … 1B Mike Napoli has a career-high 31 home runs.
