Last summer, Ginny Sims took a trip to the six towns that make up Stroke-on-Trent, an area of industrial England where the pottery industry once thrived. Monica Edwards Larson: Poetry of Resistance and Change

There are two main parts to this multi-faceted event by Monica Edwards Larson / Sister Black (Bike) Press' project "Poetry of Resistance & Change." First, a temporary install of letterpress printed poetry cards. Second, a poetry reading and DIY printing event. Poetry readings on Friday night from 7:30-10 p.m. include a host of local poets: D. Allen, Michael Kleber-Diggs, Marion Gomez, Junauda Petrus, Maitreyi Ray, Hawona Sullivan Janzen, and Ben Weaver. This event is also a part of Lit Crawl MN. LA artists Anna Helm and Hirsch Perlman are joined by Houston-based Lisa Lapinski for this new exhibition of sculpture, photography and drawings. Organized by Lapinski, whose sculpture is known for using unconventional materials, including Snoopy figurines, was included in the 2006 Whitney Biennial. In classic Yeah Maybe fashion, this exhibition is known only by a number – in this case, 21 – and features work by many artists. Upstairs artists include Levi Budd, Teréz Iacovino, Madeline Ludwig-Leone and Jonathan Mildenberg. Downstairs find Chris Farstad and Molly Raben. The event is free and BYO, with music beginning around 9 p.m. Artist conversation happens on Sunday, Sept. 17, around 3 p.m. The show will go down the following week.
