We shall overcome

Common, who is spending almost as much time producing TV as he is in the recording studio, adds a new, well-intentioned project to his credits. "An American Girl Story — Melody 1963: Love Has to Win" focuses on a Detroit girl trying to grasp the roots of racism in the wake of the Alabama bombing that killed four girls. This is serious stuff, but the movie is accessible enough to young viewers in a way that will open up doors to discussion without triggering nightmares.
