Modern family

Maybe it's fitting that "F Is for Family" is TV's most underappreciated cartoon as its lead character keeps getting the shaft. In a terrific second season, Frank Murphy (Bill Burr) deals with unemployment, smug neighbors and a son who's starting to rebel. The show may be set in the 1970s, but it's a scenario that frustrated Americans in the modern age can relate to.

Stepping out

Jennifer Lopez's quest to lap Judge Judy continues with her role as producer and panelist on "World of Dance," yet another modern take on an old-fashioned talent show. The participants, who range in age and style, are all impressive, which means the emphasis is on spectacle rather than sarcasm. Derek Hough, Ne-Yo and Jenna Dewan Tatum round out the team of celebrity cheerleaders.
