Beyoncé will probably be a no-show at the "BET 2017 Awards," despite leading the pack in nominations. Something about two new house guests? No matter. Leslie Jones of "Saturday Night Live" is sure to be flawless in what I can only hope is the first of many times as the show's host.

"Naked Truth: China Queer" investigates the challenges facing those coming out in a country that still practices "conversion therapy" and will even turn their heads when a man is held against his will in a mental hospital for being gay. Filmmakers use hidden cameras and personal anecdotes to strengthen their rallying cry for change.

May the force be with you

Helen Mirren is nowhere to be found in "Prime Suspect: Tennison," but you'll scarcely miss her thanks to a subtle performance by Stefanie Martini, who plays the detective as a 22-year-old rookie, back when optimism was still an option. The case in this three-part prequel is a bit of a snoozer, but watching Jane Tennison slowly develop her shell — and drinking habit — will be a treat for "Masterpiece" fans.
