The fugitive kinds

"The Hunted" is being billed as a giant game of hide and seek, with nine teams of two scampering to avoid capture by investigators and high-tech tracking methods on a playing field that covers much of the southeastern United States. Think "The Amazing Race" with Tommy Lee Jones on your tail.

Raising her voice

Don't be surprised if "Rachel Carson," a new documentary about the author of the environmental-movement landmark "Silent Spring," inspires a major Hollywood biopic. Her story — a secret lesbian affair, backlash from the establishment, a battle with a terminal disease at the height of her popularity — practically screams Oscar. As for leading ladies, usher Mary-Louise Parker to the front of the line, if only on the basis of how eloquently she reads the author's personal letters in this eye-opening film in PBS' "American Experience" series.

Cool it now

It's usually wise to steer clear of biopics produced by the figures beings profiled. But "The New Edition Story," a six-hour miniseries, doesn't suffer from the behind-the-scenes participation of its members. It's clear that Bobby Brown and company allowed director Chris Robinson and his fresh, energetic cast to go all out in presenting a warts-and-all portrait of the influential R&B group.
