The comic book series "Zombies vs. Cheerleaders" brought together "Bring It On!" and "The Walking Dead." The TV adaptation, "Zombies," mixes in "High School Musical" although the songs and dance numbers in this movie aren't nearly as memorable. Where's a green-haired Zac Efron when you need him?

School daze

There have been finer shows than "Everything Sucks!" that deal with high school angst, most notably "My So-Called Life" and "Freaks and Geeks." But I binged on this new 1990s-set comedy, if only for the tortured look on the face of actress Peyton Kennedy, perfectly capturing a teenager painfully out of step with her peers. You may be able to relate.

Curtain call

"Mozart in the Jungle" kicks off its fourth season with Hailey (Lola Kirke) and maestro (Gael García Bernal) finally making beautiful music together, but the romance takes away the will-they-or-won't-they fun of previous episodes. Even a visit from the pope can't bless this once-engaging Golden-Globe winner that feels like it has lingered on stage a bit too long.

As tears go by

Those with even a vague recollection of Barbara Walters' prime-time specials may get a kick out of "Soft Focus With Jena Friedman," a spoof of newsmagazine programs designed more to pull at heartstrings than educate. Friedman, a veteran of "The Late Show" and "The Daily Show," has her impersonation of a "concerned" journalist down pat.
