"Private Eyes," starring Jason Priestley as a former hockey player determined to morph into Sam Spade, is the kind of lighthearted procedural that used to dominate network TV in the 1980s, featuring the former "Beverly Hills 90210" heartthrob bantering with his reluctant partner (Cindy Sampson). This Canadian export should appeal to anyone pining for a reboot of "Remington Steele."

Start me up

"The Top Ten Revealed" is the latest countdown show, with chipper host Katie Daryl providing plenty of fodder for your next bar-stool argument. The series kicks off with "Guitar Rock Intros," a list that loses all credibility by omitting any riffs from Keith Richards.
