Early birds will get first peek at who gets a golden ticket to next month's best bash when Golden Globe Awards Nominations are announced. Lots of suspense has been building, especially over whether horror flick "Get Out" will snag a major nom despite competing in the Best Comedy category. Seth Meyers hosts the ceremony on Jan. 7.

"The Bachelor: Countdown to Arie" is an example of a network wringing as much water out of a rock as it possibly can, with no actual contestants competing for Arie Luyendyk Junior's roses. The only way this special could deserve attention is if host Chris Harrison revealed that the upcoming season will be about wooing Ari Gold from "Entourage."

Foreign correspondent

The ouster of Charlie Rose leaves an opening in PBS' late night schedule that is being filled, at least temporarily, by a voice of reason. Public TV stations across the country are picking up "Amanpour," the CNN International series starring Christiane Amanpour, a journalist who favors foreign diplomats over entertainers. The show will air weeknights until PBS lands on a permanent replacement.
