The naked truth

"Hot Girls Wanted," a documentary series about adult films, sounds titillating, but executive producer Rashida Jones and her team aren't interested in resurrecting Cinemax's late-night fare. Instead, each hour serves as a platform to talk about how pornography can hold up a mirror to social issues, including the struggles facing women in power and lingering unease about interracial couples.

Not necessarily the news

Tina Fey doesn't appear in "Great News," but the spirit of "30 Rock" heroine Liz Lemon is alive and semi-well in Katie Wendelson (Briga Heelan), a second-tier producer at a fourth-tier cable news network. It's no surprise Fey has assembled another winning team, but you may be stunned by how good Nicole Richie is as a party-girl anchor.

No do-overs

Minneapolis is part of a new experiment that hopes to capitalize on the growing demand for live TV. "This Is Life Live" is a four-night event with prerecorded news packages, followed by interviews in front of a studio audience. Hosts Lisa Joyner and DeVon Franklin are at the U for Night 3, which features a woman hearing her children's voices for the first time thanks to a cochlear implant, and a woman looking for the man who killed family members in a drunken-driving accident.
