Out of the 250 North Side homes identified as having suffered major damage because of the May 22 tornado, 150 are still left unrepaired, Randy Furst writes. City officials are unable to tell whether owners plan to fix them or sometimes if anyone is even living there. It looks like the city will probably miss its self-imposed deadline of Dec. 1 to have all occupied homes that were damaged in the tornado fully repaired or in the process of being fixed. The cardinal rule of being a thief is to not get caught, but that's exactly what happened Monday morning to a 34-year-old St. Paul man who tried to get away with an office safe from a south Minneapolis restaurant, I reported. Police caught him pushing the safe behind Chris and Rob's Chicago's Taste Authority at about 1 a.m. on Monday. He's being held without bail.

Longtime neighborhood activist David Luce, 67, was jumped and badly beaten Saturday afternoon a block from his house near Farview Park, Matt McKinney and Steve Brandt report. From his hospital bed Monday, he said he doesn't remember exactly what happened but remembers three cars pulling up just before the attack. He's been hospitalized at Hennepin County Medical Center since the attack and expects to be released today. Luce says the beating won't move him from the North Side.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota has sued Hennepin County on behalf of OccupyMPLS. The ACLU suit contends that those rules, which forbid tents and electricity, and "certain unwritten procedures enforced by the county" violate the demonstrators' free speech rights.

It's the one-year anniversary since her mother was run over and killed on Lake Street, and the daughter of hit-and-run victim Mintrawati Dhannu says the family is substantially increasing a reward in hopes of finding the driver responsible, Paul Walsh writes. The victim's daughter, Nadia Ramadhar, said her family is upping the reward from $2,000 to $25,000 for info that leads to a break in the case.

A 32-year-old man was found fatally stabbed outside of Sex World early Monday, and police are looking for his killer Paul Walsh and Matt McKinney report. The man was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where he died. He was identified as Daniel J. Hart, of Minneapolis.

On Monday, lawyers representing some NBA players withdrew a lawsuit filed last week in Northern California and consolidated it into the class-action antitrust lawsuit they filed in Minneapolis. In doing so, they added the names of stars Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Steve Nash and Chauncey Billups, among others, to a lawsuit originally filed naming Timberwolves Anthony Tolliver, Derrick Williams as well as Caron Butler and Ben Gordon.
