Today's trophy tales

Zach Hartley, Minneapolis • 43 ½-inch muskie • Lake Minnetonka

Fishing on Crystal Bay early last week, Hartley, above, said he was swimming a ⅝-ounce outkast juice jig with a green pumpkin chigger craw trailer through the outside weed lines using 50-pound braid when he landed this personal best.

Sunfish lures muskie

Joey Luedtke, of Orono, was fishing for sunnies off a dock on Lake Minnetonka earlier this month. While pulling in a small sunfish, this 45-inch muskie came with it. After a 25-minute struggle, he was able to land the muskie.

Early catch

Bruce Collier caught this 37-inch muskie on Crystal Lake. Fishing at 6:30 a.m. in 8 feet deep from the dock, he was using a frozen sucker.
