A hotel for Packer fans

The Lodge Kohler opened in July near Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis., home of the Packers. Run by Kohler, the plumbing fixtures company that also operates golf and spa resorts in Kohler, Wis., and St. Andrews, Scotland, the 144-room hotel is part of the Titletown District. Adjacent to Lambeau, the 34-acre development aims to attract fans with a medical sports clinic that treats professional and amateur athletes, a microbrewery restaurant, a sledding hill and an ice rink. "Packer fans are very loyal," said Christine Loose, the group director of lodging at Kohler. "We weather through good times and the bad times." She described football Sundays as "a party that extends far beyond the four walls of the stadium." Hotel rates start at $170 a night. On game days, rates start at $438 a night, with a two-night minimum (lodgekohler.com).

Bible museum is coming

Three blocks from Smithsonian exhibits depicting the Big Bang and evolution, Washington, D.C.'s newest museum will tell a different story of the creation of the universe. The Museum of the Bible will showcase the impact of the Old and New Testaments using ancient artifacts and examples of ways the holy book has influenced the modern world. Opening in November, the eight-story, high-tech museum is the brainchild of Steve Green, the evangelical president of Hobby Lobby. And although it's dedicated to one solitary book, the 430,000-square-foot museum occupies one-fifth the space of the Library of Congress. "No other book has had such a great impact on society, particularly Western culture," said museum executive director Tony Zeiss. "It's had an impact on literature, on art, on fashion, on politics — you name it."
