Minneapolis voter Bobby Davis had this query:
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Voted at 9:30 this morning at Ward 10 - Precinct 3 at St. Mary's Greek Orthodox, with no problems.
I presented my state issued ID to get my ballot even though I wasn't asked for ID.
Other people never showed any ID what so ever and were given a ballot.

Is this normal?
Indeed, it is normal. In fact, elections staff are not allowed to ask for photo IDunless you're registering at the polls, and even then you don't have to have one if another registered voter from the same precinct will vouch for you. This issue has been an incendiary one, pitting those who say it prevents fraud against those who say requiring this kind of proof suppresses turnout by elderly voters and others. Earlier this year, a Republican-backed state House bill to require photo IDs at the polls didn't make it through the DFLcontrolled legislature.
