I've beenpart of the internet community since 1995,butonly a recent Facebook convert.
Oh sure, I had an account for about 5 years, but started it for a job anddid all but nothing with it.
Friends of mine kept saying, 'oh did you see what so-and-so wrote?' or 'wasn't it funny to see the pictures from such-and-such.?' Finally, one day I had people over to my house and my friend called up her Facebook account so I could hear her son's original music.

Believe it or not, the kid was good - plenty of angst and more than enough musicality. That, however, was not what impressed me. It was after she went away from the music and showed me her wall. It struck me then and there that that is where all of my friends have been. They are all busy on Facebook!
I was hooked! Over the next 3 months I searched for every friend, family member and person I could think of and sent them friend requests. After 6 months, I now have almost 150 friends which is pretty good for an almost-40-year-old.
I have to admit to a love-hate relationship with it, though.
Posting can be like wearing your heart on your sleeve and no responses can be like not getting picked for the team in junior high phy ed. I try to remember that we all have so many friends to keep up with that it takes hours in a week to do so.That, and maybe others are like me-the more friends I have the less I have to say.
