The Escape Artist

By Kay Krhin

I walked in the door last night and Peter stopped me.

"We have a disturbing development."

"Uh oh, what?"

"Iwas sitting in the family room and I heard tinyfootsteps coming down the stairs. It wasn't Ben. Vivian has figured out how to get out of her crib. I kept putting her back in and within seconds of closing the door, she was walking back down the stairs again."

Our little girl has officially gone AWOL from the crib.

She is a stealthy one. We had her show us her ninja-like technique. She swings her leg up and puts her foot on top of the rail. Pulls herself up and swings over the side hangs there for a second and lowers herself to the ground. Swift and silent. Gotta hand it to her, the girl is agile. I predict gymnastics in her near future.

During the Vikings-Packers game last night, I sat in the hallway outside her room and repeatedly put her back in her crib until she grew so tired she finally fell asleep. We cannot continue to do this.
