One day before the Timberwolves begins its Summer League schedule in Las Vegas, the team announced the official signing of first-round draft pick Kris Dunn.

Dunn, the point guard taken with the fifth overall pick in June's draft, will headline the team's Summer League entry, along with Tyus Jones and Adreian Payne.

Dunn signed a rookie contract that will pay him almost $3.9 million this coming season. That makes him, along with the other players taken in the draft, a relative bargain in a league that has seen individual salaries balloon along with the salary cap.

Dunn and the rest of the Summer League team began practicing Tuesday. The team — which will be coached by Ryan Saunders — left for Las Vegas on Thursday and will begin play against Denver at 7:30 Friday in the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of UNLV. The game will be televised on ESPN.
