Timberwolves rookie center Justin Patton underwent surgery on his left foot Wednesday for the second time in nine months, the team announced after the team's 102-82 Game 2 loss at Houston.

The team said the surgery was designed to "encourage further healing" of his original injury. No timetable was given for his recovery.

Patton underwent surgery last July 4 to repair a broken fifth metatarsal in his left foot after he slipped on a floor wet spot during a summer workout.

Dr. Martin O'Malley of the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City performed Wednesday's surgery.

The 16th player taken in last summer's draft, Patton played four minutes of one game in the NBA's regular season and played 38 games with the Wolves' Iowa team in the G League.
