As far as thefts go, the one that happened at Kansas State University barely qualifies as petty crime. But a stolen Kit Kat is getting lots of attention.

Hunter Jobbins had parked his car in front of the dorms Sunday at the school in Manhattan, Kansas and left his doors unlocked. In the 15 minutes he was gone, a sweet tooth wandered by and noticed a Kit Kat left inside the vehicle and helped himself or herself, according to a tweet from Jobbins.

The thief was kind enough to leave a note that read "Saw Kit-Kat in your cup holder. I love Kit-Kats so I checked your door and it was unlocked. Did not take anything other than the Kit-Kat. I am sorry and hungry."

Jobbins shared the note on Twitter and it has gone viral in the past few days.

He told Metro.co.uk: 'When I came across it at first I was kinda upset and wondering what happened to my kitkat, then I realized how funny it was that it happened so my frustration turned into laughter.'

The folks at KIT KAT apparently were appalled and offered to replace the stolen chocolate treat.
