With its last pick in the 2017 Major League Soccer SuperDraft, Minnesota United FC selected Tanner Thompson.

The Loons took Thompson first in the fourth round Tuesday when rounds three and four of the draft occurred on a closed conference call.

The midfielder out of Indiana is a native of Loomis, Calif., started every game for the Hoosiers his sophomore through senior year. He was a two-time Big Ten Midfielder of the Year his last two seasons and a First-Team All-America honoree from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America his last collegiate season.He scored 18 goals and tallied 19 assists for the Hoosiers in his career.

The 22-year-old is 5-7, 150 pounds and joins No. 1 overall pick forward Abu Danladi from UCLA, goalkeeper Alec Ferrell from Wake Forest and midfielder Thomas de Villardi from Delaware as United's draftees for its inaugural Major League Soccer season.
