Wisconsin's most popular golfer is feeling Minnesota.

Steve Stricker on Friday committed to the 3M Championship, the PGA Tour Champions' annual stop at TPC Twin Cities, a tournament official confirmed.

The 12-time PGA Tour winner from the Madison, Wis., area will be a gallery favorite when the 3M is played Aug. 4-6.

Stricker, who turned 50 in February, had played a limited schedule the past few years. He's been even more selective with his events this year while preparing for this fall's Presidents Cup, for which he is the United States captain.

Despite that reduced schedule, Stricker is 19th in the season long Charles Schwab Cup points race, collecting $464,250 in just five events. He's also made nine cuts in PGA Tour events.

He finished Round 2 on Friday at the British Open 2-over-par, the 25th straight major he has made the cut.

Stricker last season began hosting the Champions Tour's American Family Insurance Championship in Madison. He placed tied for third in his debut performance last month.
