The head football coach at St. Francis High School is off the job following an arrest during a prostitution sting last month.
Maple Grove police were conducting an undercover operation on April 12 when they arrested Tatum Hermann, 39. Capt. Adam Lindquist said Hermann agreed to engage in prostitution with a minor. Lindquist would not provide further details. But a search warrant filed in Hennepin County said Hermann had responded to an ad under the escort section of backpage.com placed by officers conducting the operation. The decoy and Hermann exchanged racy texts and he was arrested for agreeing to engage in prostitution with a juvenile when he arrived at an apartment on Garland Lane where the sting was underway, it said.
Hermann has not been charged, but Lindquist said police plan to submit the case to the Hennepin County attorney's office.
Hermann was named the head football coach at St. Francis High for the 2016 season. He no longer works for the district, the district said.
According to the warrant filed April 25, Hermann texted a response to the ad that claimed to be seeking "a generous man with fantasy."
In a series of texts, the decoy said she was 15 and asked Hermann if he was OK with that. He said "that was fine."
Hermann knocked on the apartment door and was arrested. He had a box of condoms and $120 cash, the warrant said.
When school district officials were made aware of the complaint, they relieved Hermann of his duties. "We are working closely with law enforcement and are conducting an internal investigation," Superintendent Troy Ferguson said.
