Adrian Peterson's terrific season isn't over yet. This weekend, at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Peterson will showcase his skills one last time as one of five Vikings participating in the Pro Bowl. And when we say participating, with Peterson that means competing. Full speed ahead. At all times.

That was the star running back's vow anyway. Two days after the Vikings' season ended with a playoff loss in Green Bay, Peterson made it known that he would not head to Hawaii with the intention of going through the motions, which has become the Pro Bowl tradition.

"It is hard for me to play down," Peterson said. "Because when you play down, you put yourself in jeopardy of getting hurt going through the motions. So I won't be playing down. I'm going to play hard."

For what it's worth, the Pro Bowl record for rushing yards in a game is 180 set by Marshall Faulk after the 1995 season.

Also, don't forget Peterson was MVP of the Pro Bowl after his rookie season, rushing for 129 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-30 NFC win. In four Pro Bowl appearances, Peterson has totaled 274 yards and four TDs on 41 carries.

Earlier this month, Peterson also noted the extra $50,000 that players on the winning team receive. He said that wasn't a big deal necessarily. But it does provide a little extra motivation.

Said the Vikings star: "Guys look at that and say, 'We get this win, we get 50 more racks so we can give it to our mom, our dad, our family or go buy a car.' There's a lot you can do with 50."

It's also worth noting that the Pro Bowl's career rushing record is 368 yards by Walter Payton.
