Week 8 of the Page 2 Fantasy Football Challenge is here. Each week, a guest picker chooses a QB, RB and WR. The only players off-limits are those selected by the previous week's guest picker. The guest — Paul Lambert, better known as "Meatsauce" and a producer on KFAN's The Power Trip morning show — will go head-to-head against Star Tribune writer Michael Rand, who is not allowed to pick anyone projected to score in the top 10 by NFL.com experts at their respective positions:
PAUL LAMBERT'S WEEK 8 FANTASY PICKS
QB: Andrew Luck, Colts
NFL.com QB projection: No. 5
Matchup: Steelers
"He's on my fantasy team and hes also the best QB in the league. We also have similar beards and went to the same college." (Editor's note: Luck went to Stanford. Lambert did not).
RB: Le'Veon Bell, Steelers
NFL.com RB projection: No. 10
Matchup: Colts
"In my next life I want to come back as a running back and play for the Steelers! He is doing that right now, so that's why I'm picking him. He's also on my fantasy team in a rigged league I play in."
WR: Brandon Marshall, Bears
NFL.com WR projection: No. 6
Matchup: Patriots
"He and his QB (Jay Cutler) are fighting. What's the best way to make up? Put up two TDs and 175 yards on the overrated Patriots!"
MICHAEL RAND'S WEEK 8 FANTASY PICKS
QB: Tony Romo, Cowboys
NFL.com QB projection: No. 14
Matchup: Washington
I keep waiting for the inevitable slide for the Cowboys, but it's not likely to start this week against a Washington defense that has allowed 15 passing touchdowns already this season.
RB: Darren McFadden, Raiders
NFL.com RB projection: No. 17
Matchup: Browns
Cleveland is allowing 5.0 yards per carry, the second-worst number in the NFL. The Browns have also allowed seven rushing TDs. That's enough for me to trust McFadden. Sort of.
WR: Alshon Jeffery, Bears
NFL.com WR projection: No. 12
Matchup: Patriots
You might think that a fight between a QB and WR means they will make up on the field. I think it means Jay Cutler will throw to Jeffery instead.
SCOREBOARD WEEK 7 FANTASY RECAP (USING NFL.COM DEFAULT SCORING METHOD)
Winner: Sam DeRusha — Tom Brady (22.4), DeMarco Murray (19.2), Demaryius Thomas (29.1). Total: 70.7.
Loser: Michael Rand — Kirk Cousins (1.6), Lamar Miller (14.3), T.Y. Hilton (10.7). Total: score. 26.6
Overall standings: Guest pickers 6-1.
