New Prague's softball team might have been denied a perfect regular season, but that won't deter the Trojans from trying to reach their ultimate goal — a return trip to the state tournament.

The Trojans earned the No. 1 seed in the Class 4A, Section 1 tournament. They have won the section championship two of the past three years.

New Prague won its first 17 games of the season before losing two of its final three.

Second-seeded Farmington is the most likely team to stand in the way of another state trip for New Prague. The Tigers won the section crown in 2015 and went back-to-back in 2012 and 2013.

Clash of rivals

Wildcats senior Brandon Wuertz had four goals and one assist.
