One person died early Friday in a Brooklyn Park house fire.

Fire Chief Kenneth Prillaman said neither the identity of the individual nor the cause of death has been determined, nor has the cause of the fire.

Fire crews were called after a driver on Hwy. 252 saw an orange glow rising above the 1300 block of Court and 84th. The driver went to check it out and discovered the house fire shortly after midnight.

By the time crews arrived at the scene, the fire was well underway with flames shooting out the windows of the two-story, 1940s home with a detached garage, Prillaman said. "It looked like it had been going for a while," he said.

Prillaman said crews didn't leave the scene until midmorning.

Investigators believe one person lived in the house, but Prillaman was unable to say whether that was the person who died. The victim's body has been turned over to the Hennepin County medical examiner's office for identification and determination of the cause of death.
