A church in Norwood Young America that celebrated its 160th anniversary in September was destroyed in a fire on Sunday night.

No one was in the Church in the Maples United Methodist Church at the time of the fire, church officals said.

Flames were still burning on the church's steeple nearly three hours after the fire was first reported shortly after 7 p.m.

An investigator from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was at the scene, which is standard for any church fire.

Several emergency agencies responded to the blaze.
