WASHINGTON -- Sen. Al Franken's latest book, a farcical telling of his life story, from his journey as a satirist to the nation's capital as a U.S. Senator, hits bookstores May 30.
Jokingly called "Giant of the Senate," the book "recounts the most dramatic and humorous moments of his new career in politics," according to the publisher. Franken is serving his second term and was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2008. He beat incumbent Republican Sen. Norm Coleman by 312 votes that year.
Franken has penned five other mostly satirical books including "Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot" and "I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough and Doggone It, People Like Me" from his days as a writer on Saturday Night Live and a radio host on Air America.
When Franken announced he was writing a memoir last year, an aide said he hoped it would help inspire people "to keep working" and that the book would be entertaining and fun.
