After two days of searching, a man who went missing Saturday when his paddleboard was found on Lake Waconia has not yet been located.

The Carver County Sheriff's Office called off the search for Andrew John Stifter, 35, of Waconia, at sunset Monday and will resume again Tuesday, authorities said.

Stifter's paddleboard was found shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday about 100 feet offshore. Deputies who went to the scene learned that the man had gone to the lake to photograph wildlife from the board. The board was upright and anchored, with a personal flotation device tethered to the front of the board. Stifter was nowhere to be seen.

Stifter's wife, Katie Stifter, said her husband is physically fit and had been paddleboarding before. He was wearing black pants, a new Adidas top and a black stocking cap. She asked that residents around the lake search their property and report any information to the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies and divers searched until 2 a.m. Sunday, then resumed at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Drones and a State Patrol helicopter were used in the search.

At 9 a.m. Monday, volunteers and deputies expanded their search areas on the lake and on land adjacent to the water.

Anyone who may have seen Stifter or have any information is asked to call the Carver County Sheriff's Office at 952-361-1231 or use the tip line 952-361-1224.
