The crowds were large at Hazeltine National on Tuesday, and despite the cool temperatures, the place looked great.

After a day of walking the course and listening to press conferences, here's what struck me most:

American captain Davis Love keeps talking about the importance of leadership from Tiger Woods, a vice-captain, and Phil MIckelson, his most experienced player. He keeps talking about the advice they are dispensing.

Tiger Woods' career Ryder Cup record: 13-17-3.

Mickelson's: 11-17-6.

And when they were paired together, they refused to make eye contact.

These are your leaders?

Woods may be the second-best player ever, and may have been the most dominant during his reign. Mickelson has produced a remarkable career. But Ryder Cup leaders?

Really?
