A man faces felony charges after he barged into a Roseville home on Sunday in an attempt to hide from police who were looking for him in connection with a domestic assault.

Six adults in the home on the 1400 block of Judith Avenue barricaded themselves behind a door before escaping unharmed during the five-hour standoff, said Roseville Police Chief Rick Mathwig.

It started around 5:30 p.m. when officers were called to an apartment building about a domestic assault. The suspect had fled before officers arrived, Mathwig said.

About 45 minutes later, officers saw a man who matched the description of the suspect and pursued him. The suspect jumped a fence and ended up on Judith Street, where he ducked into a home through an open garage door.

Police and Ramsey County deputies set up a perimeter around the house and sent telephone messages telling nearby residents nearby to stay inside.

The suspect, 35, surrendered without incident around 10:30 p.m. and was taken to jail. Charges are expected to be filed by Tuesday, Mathwig said.
