Robbinsdale teachers will be giving away 40,000 books to children in the metro area next month.

The Robbinsdale Federation of Teachers will make the books available to families from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, at the Sandburg Learning Center. Books will also be distributed on Friday, June 3, to educators who need books for their classrooms.

"This is tremendous opportunity to get books into the hands of kids and families in Robbinsdale and the surrounding area," said Peter Eckhoff, president of the Robbindsale Federation of Teachers. "But we need more families to make plans to come out and pick up some books."

The books will be provided by First Book, a nonprofit that gives books to children from low-income families.
