Timberwolves veteran guard Jamal Crawford will decline his $4.5 million player option and become an unrestricted free agent, ESPN.com reported citing unnamed sources Wednesday.
The NBA's only three-time Sixth Man of the Year award winner, Crawford must decline his option sometime in June.
An 18-year veteran, Crawford signed a two-year contract worth nearly $9 million last summer with that player option for this next season included and turned 38 in March.
Crawford, who did not return a request for comment, still could re-sign with the Wolves after he tests free agency.
The ESPN.com report said Wolves All-Star guard Jimmy Butler has stressed to management that he wants Crawford to return to the team. Butler can become a free agent himself in summer 2019.
