And then there were four.
Hours before the Lynx's matinee with Dallas on Wednesday, forward Rebekkah Brunson was named to Western Conference team for Saturday's WNBA All-Star Game in Seattle. Brunson, 35, will be making her fourth trip to the game, her third with the Lynx.
She went in 2007 while playing in Sacramento and in 2011 and 2013 with Minnesota. Brunson replaces Phoenix center Brittney Griner, who sustained ankle and knee injuries July 14.
"Like I always say, whatever I can do to help this team, I'm willing to do," Brunson said. "But it's always nice to see that other people have noticed."
For the third time since 2011 the Lynx will have four players in the All-Star Game. Maya Moore and Sylvia Fowles were voted in as starters. Seimone Augustus was named as a reserve Tuesday.
And now Brunson, who is averaging 10.8 points per game, her best since 2012. But she also has added more of an inside offensive game and has become a dangerous three-point shooter after having made just two three pointers before this season.
"We're thrilled for Rebekkah," said Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve, who will be the Western Conference coach Saturday. "I think for someone who is 35, who is closer to the end than the beginning, these things are really meaningful."
New York guard Sugar Rodgers was named as a replacement for the Eastern Conference, replacing injured Washington forward Elena Delle Donne.
Also, the Eastern Conference team will be coached by Connecticut coach Curt Miller and his staff. New York coach Bill Laimbeer was slated to coach the East, but has to tend to a family matter.
