A good read on my night table stack is "Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine," by Gail Honeyman. Anyone who experienced a normal childhood and coming of age will definitely appreciate this novel. As a survivor, Eleanor has honed some dubious skills not necessarily suited to our casual digital age, but she is equipped with insight that appeals to and sometimes appalls those who come into her life. Honeyman sprinkles in vocabulary and references to Scotland that are charming and lend knowledge about her country. The book is smart, and readers will be compelled to see Eleanor through her journey, and will possibly be grateful for their own.
