A march Friday afternoon from the Fort Snelling light rail station to the nearby Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building protested recent immigration actions by federal authorities.

At least 30 people joined the peaceful action, which was organized by the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee to protest recent deportations of undocumented immigrants in Minnesota and elsewhere.

They held signs, chanted and listened to speakers who decried deportations, especially of parents and families.

The Whipple building was a focus of the march because in addition to other federal agencies, it houses Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) offices.
