Transitions are in store in Jordan as the principals at two out of three district schools prepare to retire at the end of the year. The retirement of Lance Chambers, middle school principal, was approved at a February school board meeting. Barb McNulty, high school principal, gave her resignation at the March 14 meeting.
McNulty is finishing her fifth year with the Jordan district while Chambers has spent 15 years in district roles.
"I will miss watching the students grow into young adults, but I believe the time has come for me to move on to other endeavors," McNulty wrote in a letter to the school board.
In his resignation letter, Chambers said he'll "look back fondly on all the memories for a long, long time."
He said the "one common theme" he noticed in fellow staff members was compassion, adding that he hopes to keep in touch with them.
The administrators will officially end job duties June 30. Both positions have been posted, said Superintendent Matt Helgerson, and the goal is to complete hiring by the May 9 school board meeting.
