D.C. briefly

The Trump administration told the Supreme Court on Thursday that there is no reason for the court to rule on the legality of the president’s previous bans on travel from certain countries, and that lower court rulings against the president’s position should be erased. Opponents of the bans said the court should continue to review the cases. Even if not, they said, the lower court rulings should stand.

Ivana Trump, the president’s first wife, said he offered her an ambassadorship to the Czech Republic, her native country — but she turned him down. “Why would I go and say bye-bye to Miami in the winter, bye-bye to Saint-Tropez in the summer, and bye-bye to spring and fall in New York?” she said in an interview with CBS “Sunday Morning” to air this weekend. “I have a perfect life.”
