AIDAN BOUMAN
Buffalo • football
With a father who is his team's head coach and a former Vikings quarterback sophomore Aidan Bouman shoulders expectations every time he takes the field. It appears as if he's living up to them, and then some.
Bouman passed for 432 yards and three touchdowns in a 48-41 shootout victory Friday over Chisago Lakes. His big game propelled him into the state lead in total passing yards. Through seven games, Bouman has thrown for 1,813 yards and 15 touchdowns. Perhaps more importantly, the victory assured the Bison of their first .500 regular-season record since 2009.
"We're definitely making the turnaround and moving up," he said. "That last few years have been a struggle, but we're excited for the future."
Bouman says his father, Todd, is the best tutor a young quarterback could want.
"It's a huge help with my development," he said. "It's awesome."
It there one thing he does better than his accomplished dad?
"I'm not as athletic as he was at this age," Bouman said before pausing. "But I'm smarter," he laughed.
