Greetings.

I have to make this short. Here, briefly, is why: My computer broke down, leaving me frothing at the mouth, freaked out and generally ready to run amok. But that's before the very kind and generous folks at the Insight Bowl set me up with a loaner for the game.

Well, I have to give it back to them now.

Anyway, some post-game thoughts:

1. I actually think the play-calling by offensive coordinator Jedd Fish was OK. I just didn't like the execution, especially in the first half.

2. How do you feel about the upcoming quarterback competition? I've gotten a lot of e-mail this season asking me why the Gophers didn't play MarQueis Gray more. Well, maybe it was because he wasn't ready to play full-time.

Will he be next season? Perhaps. But I personally still think Adam Weber has the edge going into spring ball.

3. I thought Kim Royston and Kyle Theret played very well tonight. They will be back next season. I think both are very hard-working players who should do a pretty good job of leading by example next season.

I am not being a homer when I say this: I think Theret got the Drew Pearson treatment on that TD pass late in the second quarter.

4. I think the offensive line HAS TO GET A LOT BETTER.

5. Am I wrong in thinking that the Gophers, going forward, might be in pretty good shape pass-rushing wise? I like D.L. Wilhite.

That's about it. Gotta get out of here. I'll be back north tomorrow afternoon, re-introducing myself to the cold weather. Have a great new year.
