The defeat of photo ID and the DFL takeover in the Legislature put a series of proposals up for discussion:
• Early voting or expanded absentee voting
• Electronic poll books for registering or identifying voters at polling place
• Laws to prevent ex-felons from voting before they regain voting rights
• Moving the primary from August to June
• Clarifying how a candidate who dies or withdraws can be replaced on ballot
• Limiting the number of state-paid recounts
• Requiring additional disclosure by independent political groups
• Making it harder to amend the Minnesota Constitution
