American Public Media has been awarded the prestigious Peabody Award for its examination of the Jacob Wetterling case. "In the Dark," which jurors called a "tour de force of investigative reporting," was selected Tuesday along with 10 other works from respected outlets, including CNN, "The CBS Evening News With Scott Pelley" and NPR. APM is based in St. Paul.
KARE's continuing coverage of the Wetterling case was recognized Tuesday with a regional Edward R. Murrow Award. It was one of 10 wins for the local NBC affiliate. Only KUSA in Denver and WVUE in New Orleans racked up more.
Regional winners automaticaly advance to the national round, which will be judged in May.
Other Peabody winners were announced earlier. Those awards will be handed out May 20 in New York in a cermony hosted by Rashida Jones.
