Timberwolves just completed shootaround at Target Center and my colleague Kent Youngblood reports from there that Martell Webster and Darko Milicic both likely won't play tonight against the Pacers.
Also, Corey Brewer is expected to be back in the starting lineup at shooting guard after Wayne Ellington started there Sunday and Wes Johnson started there Friday in his return to Syracuse.
Webster has a tight back and Milicic a neck and shoulder injury.
Both sound like they're your typical preseason precautionary measures and neither is believed to be serious.
Danny Granger, who scored 30 against the Wolves last week, is out for the Pacers.
Brandon Rush is expected to start in his place.
I thought Ellington might get another start tonight after Kurt Rambis made a reference yesterday to Ellington's "dumb coach" who hasn't given him enough playing time this season, a point proven by Ellington's strong play and 22 points in Sunday's victory over the Bucks in Sioux Falls.
Kent's covering tonight's game while I work ahead on season-opening advances, but here's a snapshot of what he said from a Brewer story he's working on for tomorrow:
Many considers Brewer a great defender, but Kurt Rambis emphasized at shoot that Brewer has to learn how to play within the defensive schemes and not freelance as much as an individual defender.
Brewer said he's always played that well, but has to try to change.
Rambis also said there's clearly not enough minutes for all the wings and that somebody's going to be mad with his playing time.
That is, of course, there are injuries.
Or somebody gets traded.
On tonight's game....remember, the Pacers are the only blemish on the Wolves' otherwise spotless preseason record.
The Wolves were groggy and lethargic in the second half of back-to-back games there in Indianapolis last Wednesday.
The 5-1 Wolves have two preseason games left -- tonight and Friday at Milwaukee -- before they open the regular season a week from tomorrow at Target Center against a Sacramento team that will be missing Tyreke Evans, Samuel Dalembert and likely Hassan Whiteside.
And, btw, Jonny Flynn now will go visit his Vail, Colo., surgeon to have his left hip re-checked on Monday.
Flynn hopes to be cleared to run and jump after that doctor's visit.
And...
Tonight's game is on KFAN (1130-AM) and FSN, but it will shown tape delayed on FSN about 11 p.m. after the 8 o'clock Wild-Canucks game.
