The driver of a Dodge Durango was killed early Monday when she was ejected from her vehicle after crashing on southbound I-35W at 26th Street, the State Patrol said.

The 29-year-old woman from Minneapolis lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail, which caused the Durango to roll. She was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene, the State Patrol said.

A passenger in the vehicle, also a 29-year-old woman from Minneapolis, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with critical injuries, the State Patrol said.

Two southbound lanes were closed for more than 3 hours following the wreck, which occurred at 2:24 a.m. The ramp from eastbound I-94 to southbound I-35W was also shut down until the scene was cleared about 5:45 a.m., the Minnesota Department of Transportation said.
