Dale M. Wright

Wright, Dale M. age 99, died at his home in Sunrise Senior Living in Roseville, MN on September 2, 2015. Born April 17, 1916 in Moorhead, MN to Earl A. Wright and Ruby B. Reynolds Wright, Dale spent his childhood on farms in Staples and Wadena and graduated from Wadena High School in 1933. He had 2 sisters, Phyllis and Betty, and 1 surviving brother Ronald. He attended teacher's college in Staples and University of Minnesota Agriculture School in Grand Rapids. Dale taught country schools in Wadena County in the late thirties and early forties. In 1940 he married Nora E. Mattie, his beloved wife of seventy-five years, who survives him. They lived on a small farm near Sebeka, MN and started their family of 8 kids. Dale had also instructed Veterans Agriculture under the government program for veterans returning from World War II. Dale started with State Farm Insurance in 1941 and worked for them for 41 more years until his retirement in 1982. Along the way, his career took the family to Worthington in 1955 where he became a district manager. In 1959 he moved the family to St. Paul where he became an agency director for the rest of his career. They lived at their house on Floral Drive in Shoreview for over 50 years until moving in to senior living facilities in their later years. Dale enjoyed his extended family of 8 kids, 23 grandkids, 31 great grandkids, and 2 great-great-grandkids. He enjoyed golfing and Canadian fishing trips. He and Nora visited Europe several times in their retirement including several visits to Finland to visit Nora's relatives at the family farm north of the Arctic Circle where her grandparents were born. They also visited Australia and New Zealand for an extended time. Dale is loved and will be remembered for his eternal optimism and his infinite joy in his family.
