Carstenbrock, Robert Matthew 9-25-1927 ~ 9-2-2015 Preceded in death by wife, Constance (nee Hazel). Survived by children, Thomas (Carol), Raymond (Lynda), James, Kenneth (Melanie); 6 grandchil-dren; 2 great-grandchil-dren; sister, Donna Egeland; many nieces, nephews. Robert enlisted at age 17 and served 9 years active duty in the Navy in World War II, The Korean War, and during the Cold War Period. He transferred to the Air Force Reserve before the Vietnam War for another 26 years. He retired in 1987 as a Lt. Col, having served in Special Investigations, Intelligence, and Command Level Security. He was a 68 consecutive year member of The American Legion, Disabled American Vets, Retired Military Officers Association, NRA, Minnesota Police Officers Association and Minnesota Police Chiefs Association. He received his BA from Metropolitan State University and a Master's Degree from St. Mary's College. Robert served as a police officer for the city of Richfield and Chief of Police for the cities of Inver Grove Heights and Winona. He was a longtime volunteer at the Armed Forces Service Center at the MPLS-St. Paul Airport. Memorial Mass 11 AM Saturday with visitation 9:30-11 AM prior to Mass at The Church of St. Patrick, 3535 72nd St. E., IGH.
