Seidel, Stephen W. "Steve" Age 89, of Mendota Heights, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2015 surrounded by his family. A graduate of St. Thomas Academy in 1944, he served in the Navy (Pacific Theater) during World War II and then graduated from the College of St. Thomas in 1950. He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Miriam Seidel, and siblings Richard Seidel, Fr. John Seidel, Barbara Seidel, Robert Seidel, Joan Seidel, and Miriam Murphy. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Rita (Swenson); his 8 wonderful children Pattie (Dave) Bixler, Lisa (Eric) Hambidge, Maggie (Bob) Berry, Stephen (Deborah Keenan), John (Shelly), Joe, Dave (Mary), and Dan (Helena); 28 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; siblings Fr. Tom Seidel, Jim (Lucia) Seidel, Mary Seidel, and Katy (Dave) Mechtenberg; sisters-in-law Audrey Seidel, Betty Runyon, and Mary Jane Roedler; brother-in-law Jack Murphy, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation 4-8 PM Sunday (TODAY) at O'Halloran & Murphy Funeral Home, 575 S. Snelling Ave, St. Paul. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM Monday, August 31, at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 2055 Bohland Ave, St. Paul, with visitation one hour prior to Mass at Lumen Christi. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff at St. Joseph's Hospital for their compassionate care.
