Dr. Richard W. Adamson

Adamson, Dr. Richard W. Richard Wayne Adamson died peacefully, after a long heroic battle with cancer, at his home in Breezy Point MN on July 25, 2015 with his loving family at his side. Richard was born August 22, 1934, to Raymond and Nettie Adamson in Hasty, MN. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1951 and Minneapolis Vocational High School in 1953, with a degree in watchmaking. Richard was a member of the US Army Reserve. Ray and Nettie raised Richard to understand that hard work was expected, but also rewarding. As a result, Richard grew to be a determined and hard working man. He began working as a jeweler and clock repairman in LeSeur in 1953, and returned to work in Monticello in 1955 where he eventually started his own business, Adamson Jewelry. While operating his business, he continued his education at the University of Minnesota Dental School, graduating in 1966. During that same year, he founded Bassett Creek Dental, now located in Golden Valley. Later in his career, he opened a second dental office in Elk River, where he raised his children and served the community. Dr. Adamson was a well known and highly respected dentist for 27 years. Richard was a kindhearted, fun loving man. He was ambitious, humble, spirited, artistic, loyal and honest a testament to his upbringing. In his spare time, he enjoyed creating custom jewelry, golfing, boating, fishing, gardening, and smoking a cigar with his buddies. Rarely did an evening pass without finding Richard on the patio smoking a cigar and sipping a brandy. Without question, Richard's happiest times were those spent with family and friends. Throughout his life, Richard wanted only for others to be happy and well. In his final weeks, Richard continued to share many stories of his life, humored family with his quick-wit, and reassured them he was at peace having a life well lived. Just as he had always done, he continued to take care of the needs of his family through his final breath. Richard kept his family laughing through their tears and at peace with his passing. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Nettie, beloved wife Janis (Brunsell) and brother Curtis.
