Albertson, (Irene) Bernice age 87, passed away into the arms of Jesus on July 5th, 2015, at St. Therese Palliative Care Community in Shoreview, MN, after a six-year battle with frontotemporal and Lewey body dementia. Her dear husband, Vernon, parents, Ingvald and Bertha Hanson, a sister and two brothers preceded her in death. She is survived by five children, Eric (Jan) of Anoka, MN, Leif (Edselrose) and Todd (Martha) all of Arden Hills, MN, Ann (David) Jackson of Minneapolis, MN, and Kara (Richard) Mencel of Eagan, MN; 12 grandchildren, and 7 great-grand children. Bernice grew up on a farm near Twin Valley, MN where she attended a one room schoolhouse and then high school in Twin Valley. Bernice graduated from Concordia College, Moorhead, in 1950 with a degree in Home Economics. She married her high school sweetheart, Vernon, in 1951 and was a devoted wife and mother. She has left a legacy of the love of cooking and baking throughout her family, especially teaching them the art of lefse making. She instilled in her family her deep faith in God. She had a passion for flowers, gardening, birds and wildlife that still lives on through her children and grandchildren. Bernice also enjoyed reading, walking, jogging and racquetball throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by her family. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, July 9th, at Incarnation Lutheran Church in Shoreview, MN. Visitation will be held at the church at 10 AM until the time of the service. A time of gathering will be Friday July 10th at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley, MN, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM with committal service at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials will be used at the MN Landscape Arboretum for children's educational programs.
