Arlene Johnson

Johnson, Arlene Longtime resident of Northeast Minneapolis, died Friday, July 3, 2015. Born in 1927, she was the youngest daughter of Marius and Oda (Platt) Klukken of Gordon Township. She attended District 17 country school for first grade, then attended town school, graduating from Osakis High School in 1945. She graduated from Minnesota School of Business in 1946. In 1956 she began work as a secretary at Twin City Tile and Marble, moving with them from Nicollet Island to their location near the University of Minnesota and then to St Paul. She retired in 2009 after 53 years. In 1949 she married William Johnson at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church and they settled in northeast Minneapolis where she remained for the next 65 years. They were married for 55 years until his death in 2004. Arlene was a member of the Edison Mothersingers choral group, reforming as the Edison Hi-Notes during mid-1960s. The group performed at Kiwanis club and Minneapolis Athletic Club functions, performing for many years during the Christmas season at Apache Plaza shopping center and various nursing homes and at their annual Spring concert. She loved Northeast Minneapolis. She was preceded by her parents; sisters, Jerene and Opal of Osakis; and brother, Morris of Minneapolis. Survived by son, Kerry (Sandra) of Boyceville, WI; daughters, Pamela (William) McAuley of Sinking Spring, PA, and Cindy (Robert) Bach of Plymouth. Also survived by grandchildren, David (Vanessa) and Christopher (Katrin) Johnson, Ryan and Kaylen Bach, Liam, Brennan, Meredith and Keegan McAuley; step grandchildren, Dean Bundy, Casey (Jason) Peterson and Jamie (Jeffrey) McRoberts; great-grandchildren, Avery, Trenton, Zoey, James, Tyler, Trent, Dawson, Alison and Terrin; great-great-grandchildren, Deonte and Justice. Viewing will be held at the Washburn McReavy Northeast Chapel on Tuesday, July 7th from 6-8 PM and one hour prior to funeral service.
